DescriptionI never really thought about getting this colored, but Tom Smith sent me an email asking if I would consider it. I decided to have him color it digitally. I asked him to do a subtle, wash-like tone over the piece ala the old Warren magazine covers (since I don't think the vibrant , more superhero type colors suited the mood). This turned out really nice! I think it could easily be a cover for a Vampi comic. Nice job by Tom (oh...and that Adam Hughes guy. He's gonna be big someday, mark my words!).Social/Sharing |

Hughes is operating on a level so far removed from most of the artists/inkers/colorists in and around comics that it tends to be a little embarassing for inkers and colorists trying to 'contribute' something to his work. Even covention sketches

Very good choice of color scheme by the great T. Smith. This turned out quite nice.

Wow, I never even knew that "Most Viewed" feature was there. Yeah, originally, I looked at this piece and thought ...well, I'm not sure color would add anything! I love black and white and Adam's sketch is amazing. But I think the color is an interesting experiment and it works well. Not an improvement, just an alternate take. And it is digital, so I still have my amazing, one of a kind original.

i agree with bob above, and jon i'm glad your original is intact. the only one i'd have ink a hughes piece would be adam hughes. it disappoints me now when i see a hughes piece inked by ANYONE else.
