Batman and Robin chasing the Penguin right off his first cover appearance! What more can you say about this great artist on such a key early Detective cover? More than impressed James! * * * * History

It is great to see that historic covers like this survived from the accepted practices and processes in place back in the 1940s.

I don't need "historic" or "vintage." Honestly, having the Penguin riding on an ostrich while employing one of his trick umbrellas is enough. You'd have had my ten cents right there.

This is so great to see that a cover from almost 75 years ago still exists, and Penguin's first appearance ta boot! Such an historic piece. Congratulations!

Wow, that is impressive, Jim! Any plans to re-create the missing text elements and/or tape removal?

I've thought about it and of course my friend Robert Dennis is the best in the business AND lives nearby, but, inexcusably, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks for the prod! :)
