DescriptionJim Lee created this gorgeous page as the cover of Advance Comics #32, the monthly catalog for comic ordering produced by Capital City Distribution and published prior to X-Men V2 #1 itself. The art features most of the core characters in classic poses by the definitive X-Men artist (many would say the definitive comic artist, period) of the era, tying it into what would soon become the best-selling comic book issue in history, with 8 million copies sold!Social/Sharing |

Although Jim and Scott are practically married, it's nice to see a piece that's all Jim. Very cool and historical piece.

Very nice artwork, which could have been improved immeasurably by ditching the crappy cajun.

Jim Lee's art to promote this new series hyped up the Marvel fan base who were still in shock of how McFarlane made a new Spider-Man #1 a runaway hit a year before. This X-Men launch would even be more ambitious and Lee created this work to represent and promise that this series was going to be a celebration of comicdom and the heights that it could reach.

Truly an epic piece to go with some monumental comic history and art. This X-Men era was a great jumping on point for me and Lee's art kept me coming back for more. Such great character work, congrats on this beauty.

It's pure Jim Lee AND slightly predates the X-Men #1 cover. Excellent!
