Wonderful piece! Just a few years before I was born. Thank goodness he had to leave room for the logo, or there would be even more people I'd be struggling to remember.

A who's who in pop culture of the times. This is the best pure art cover of the first hundred plus issues and made people take notice that MAD magazine strove for a sophisticated level of excellence greater than any other humor magazine out there.

I love the Wood style Easter eggs of Mickey Mouse, etc. And Stengel and Johnny Podres. What a great illustration.

I like the inclusion of a ghost, General Douglas MacArthur smoking a Corn Cob Pipe.Done with just a white outline on an otherwise coloured piece is a cool detail.

I had the privilege of getting to see this piece in person, quite often, over the last decade. A real masterpiece, and a real trip to finally see it here on CAF in a new collection!
