DescriptionThis is a monumental piece for me. I grew up with this poster on my bedroom wall for a decade. Elektra was a the female icon of my adolescence and I have never been as shaken to my core by a comic artist as I was reading Elektra Assassin for the first time. If there is one image that I would consider the pinacle of comic art to date, this is it. I know the original for this exists as do one or two other recreations of it but none of those are remotely affordable or available.This piece has been the better part of a year in the making. Last year at Fan Expo in Toronto I was lucky to get a great commission from Bill on the Saturday of a retake of the Elektra cover with DD substituted for Garett. It came out great. Sensing Bill was particularly on that weekend I was lucky to be the first to ask for a commission on the Sunday. I asked him to recreate this piece. By the end of the con, he had not started and said that he wanted to take it home to do at his studio. As most of you know, Bill has in the past a bad reputation of taking money and not delivering on commissions and many of these dealings are still ongoing after 5 or 6 years. I decided to take a chance. It was an expensive commission but the gamble of possibly landing a painted Elektra of this image was worth it. Bill assured me at the time that he was doing all the work he promised and so I decided to take the chance. True to his word, Bill completed the piece. He brought it to the Boston con where Yoram picked it up for me and brought it safely back to Toronto. I picked it up today. It is amazing in person and seeing it for the first time was an indescribable experience. The piece is mounted on foamcore and has a bit of a warp to it that i hope to fix with framing but it did effect the scan with parts of the image being out of focus. It will soon be in a frame and up on my wall. A big thank you to Bill Sienkiewicz for making this fanboys dreams come true and following through on this commission. #9 in the 2010 best of CAF Other category. Social/Sharing |

My congratulations, Jeff! This piece is magnificent and your comment even more. Childhood's and adolescence's feelings are a big reason why we collect this stuff and the sensation we have when one of this is, somewhat, satisfied, is worthless.
