Description

Okay, okay, it's not technically the "Age of Apocalypse", but it's as close as they come. This DPS from X-men 41 represents the last pages before the beginning of the AoA, as reality itself shatters. It also depicts a ton of charaters from the X-universe at that time. Quick look reveals: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Adam-X, Eric the Red, Shatterstar, Warpath, Boomer, Cannonball, Dani Moonstar, Rictor, Lila Cheney, Strong Guy (he's having a heart attack), Excalibur's jet crashing, Archangel, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Cable, Beast, Domino, Synch, Banshee, Chamber, Emma Frost, Jubilee, Monet, Skin and Penance (In a nice homage to Bachalo's cover to Generation X #2, which had been published a few months prior), Gambit and Rogue (They're kissing in the background of the top right corner panel) and finally Xavier himself. It's like an X-title class photo. :- )

What I like about the page, is that it literally is a snapshot of time in the comic and what each title was doing at one moment in time. Like a glimpse back into the mid 1990's.

The Excalibur panel appears to be a stat. The art under the stat (you can just make it out by shining a bright light through the paper), appears to be a very nice group shot of Excalibur at that time. The X-factor panel has been changed as well, it was originally a group shot of Havok, Polaris, Rahne, Strong Guy and possibly someone else. I would guess that these alterations were made so that the panels would match more precisely exactly what was happening in the titles at that time. Shame, as the new panels (nice though they are) cover up some cool character art.

This is such a huge piece of X history, congrats on this monumental piece. So many great moments and characters all together before one of the best eras in comic history. Love the art and details.
