Awesome! I've always loved this scene! I have the next page in the sequence. Congrats!
Wow, LOVED Visionaries as a kid! I found my Leoric figure from childhood not too long ago and am now obsessed with the franchise. :) That is a really awesome page! I love the Dagger Assault vehicle, I think it's angular shape really pops against the heavily inked explosion. Awesome, awesome stuff. Congrats! (Needless to say, if you ever want to part with this... ;) )
Thanks! I haven't been that nervous and excited about an auction in years. :) I'm a big fan of toy art and pre-production material in general, but Visionaries has always been one of my favorite lines. Such fun toys.
And Neal will already have an email waiting for him as 2022 begins... ;)
Especially since his knees didn't bend. He couldn't really sit in the cockpit like that, because his legs would either need to be going straight forward or he'd have to stand up in it. My guess is that's one of the reasons why the design wasn't used.
It's not *THAT* far off from the Spydor though, so maybe the spindly legs of this one inspired something else later on in the line.
Wow, beautiful piece! I remember this card well, I always loved the layout of it. One of the few cards which used such an extreme closeup. Plus, can't get much better than Kubert and Rogue! Congrats!
Wow! I was wondering who ended up with this. I'm a big fan of the AoA and this is definitely one of the best Joe Mad Astonishing pieces around! HUGE congrats!
Awesome! Love how he has postioned Phoenix's fingers into a claw to mirror the fire phoenix's talons. It's subtle but it gives the piece real energy! Congrats!
Personally, I'd let Todd draw wherever he wants. ;) Epic cover! Definitely one I remember well from childhood. Congrats!
Wow, that's beautiful! I love the color choices, they really set a mood. Congrats!
Awesome piece! I love the sense of scale on that cover. It's not often that Hulk looks so small and powerless. KIller layout. :) Congrats on obtaining your Holy Grail-iest of all possible grails! That doesn't happen often in the hobby, so it's always such a treat to see it.
Awesome page from a legendary issue! Congrats!
Awesome piece! I'm a big fan of Layla Miller stuff, and this one's great! Congrats!
Very cool! I've always loved the mood Logan's expression gives that panel. McNiven rmade him so expressive yet subtle.
Awesome! One of my favorite moments in comic book history. Congrats!
Awesome page! I've always wanted a page from this book, and that's a great one! Congrats!
Definitely a grail of mine to have a page from this book. Awesome piece! Congrats!
Awesome! Love the inking on the blood!
One of those covers I never get tired of looking at. I bought it new off the stands when I was 12 and it changed the way I looked at comic books forever. Years back, Marvel.com did a poll of the most memorable covers they'd ever done, allowing users to vote for anything, and this one was in the top 5, IIRC. An amazing cover done by artists at the top of their game. AWESOME pickup!
One of the most eye-catching covers of the AoA! It was deemed too hot for some markets, and was replaced with a closeup shot of Weapon X from an interior page in some non-US editions. :) I own the cover art to Weapon X #1 and my solution to the stat logo issue was to remove the title stats and put them on a copy of the art, framed next to the art itself. That way I kept everything together and original, but I could still enjoy the entire image without it being covered up. But that really only works if you plan to frame it, obviously.
NICE! AoA is my all-time favorite comic book storyline, and Weapon X was the best title! Awesome score, congrats!
I don't know where they were done, sadly. None of them include the info of the art studio and the manager in charge of it has passed away, so I can't ask him. Galoob was headquartered in San Francisco though.
Can't get much cooler than a Star Wars cover done by Romita! Awesome piece, Will!
Awesome piece! I'm a big fan of Kubert's original Weapon X run and it was awesome to see him return to it. Congrats!
Wow! Huge congrats! That's always been one of my favorites from the storyline!
Wow! That is a thing of beauty! Congrats!
Awesome piece! Always loved this cover. Ironically, the X-Men Classic reprint of this issue was the first issue that I ever bought. I liked this version of the cover so much more that I actually went out a couple days later and tracked down an original copy of #176 and bought it as well, which is saying quite a bit about how cool the cover is since I was 10 at the time and that was a lot of money to me. :)
Awesome! I love AoA stuff! Congrats!
The Spidey in the second panel is very iconic. ...But he can't top Mysterio! Stunning page! Congrats!
Very cool! Big fan of the storyline and that character design. Congrats!
Hawkeye's the man! Love how the statue mirrors the art! I always worry about displaying 2ups standing up like that. Did you sticky wax its feet, or is it just heavy enough not to worry about it falling over?
I'm a big fan of the old Toy Biz Marvel lines, and it's always a treat to see something like this! Awesome piece!
