Description

Here's a drawing by Virgil Finlay from 1935; I believe this was one of the five samples he sent in to Weird Tales to try to convince editor Farnsworth Wright to use him as an illustrator. It worked and the rest is history.

The web of white lines is a fantastic technique that impressed then as it does now!

First off this is a superb illustration. Now I got to say it - the guy on the left with the mustache - practically a spitting image of  John Cleese from  Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

“I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.” – French knight to King Arthur

Lol, the first thing I thought in my head before I read the comments was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Agreed though really cool piece.

It worked. Of course it worked. Its Virgil Finlay. One of the truly great artists to work in pulps.
