DescriptionDespite the fact that I already had pre (show)-commissioned Tom prior to his coming to the 2024 Belgian Heroes con, I could not resist his fair prices for con sketches and went for double dip. This would be a light blue pencil sketch tightened in graphite pencil but which character to chose (a difficult choice I had to go through with my commission as Tom is one of those classic artists who draw every character well). I gave a choice between two characters I thought he draws well and he went with Starfire who is one of his all time fav’ character to draw apparently (and you can tell). And I would say that this side of George Perez, his version is the best for me. It may even be a tie with Perez’, actually. I just gave him the instructions that I’d prefer for her to be enjoying herself flying rather blasting away angrily. Tom then referred to one of his past Titans covers on which she is featured for model. Here is the fun result which did not disappoint. Have a look at the second picture for some process. Tom draws some of the most beautiful women in comics. And the sheer joy is evident in the pose and facial expression. Great pick-up for your collection!

Looks like the early version of Perez's Starfire with the Tom Grummett using soft pencils that allows for the smooth flow and beauty to ignite the senses!

Totally agree with the high esteem you have for Grummett's rendition of the character. His version of Starfire in the late 80s-early 90s always stood out to me for how graceful he made Kory look. Second to Pérez for me but it's close.

Stunning drawing of Starfire by Tom Grummett! He really captures the look and style of Perez in this piece. It's a marvelous piece of work. Congrats!
