DescriptionCarol Day was a British comic strip that ran from 1956 until around the time of its creator's death in 1967. The artistry on these strips is superb. Another commentator compares David Wright's line work to James Montgomery Flagg and I agree. Carol's quite a dish here and we can only see her from the shoulders up. The faces are extremely well rendered and communicate definite personalities. Roger Clark has put together a comprehensive site devoted to this strip, carol-day.com. This sequence is from the story he has entitled "Reverend William Evans", who is the major character in it. That is the Reverend himself talking to Carol. I worked out the date from the numbering, six days a week. There either were no Sundays or they were numbered separately.Social/Sharing |
