Description

Commissioned from the artist December 2007. This piece originally started as a Cerebus commission with Cerebus & Jaka as the featured characters. After thinking about it for a while, I thought about Timberwolf & Phantom Girl instead since they are the Wolverine & Kitty of the Legion. This is one of my favorite & most iconic X-Men covers of all time & seemed a no-brainer for a variant. Bob is obviously at the height of his talent & I really suggest getting a commission from him. Thank you Bob, & this will not be the last from me. Awesome commission & well worth the wait.

Oh that is awesome! It's a cover which lends itself to endless homage, but this is one of the best I've seen, Layton has captured the Byrne look perfectly, and the choice of character substitutions is terrific.

Bob Layton is indeed awsome, and I've dealt with him throughout the years, not only is he a professional talent that's at the top of his game, but he's also a really nice person too. I've built a collection of "reimagined" tribute covers by Bob Layton myself. Your piece is MAGNIFICENT! This is a great concept cover!

I am a fan of re-doing classic covers into Legion gems. I have a gallery of them .I have seen a few re-Legioned versions of this cover but this one has the right edge/feel to it..very cool indeed. Congratulations.Aidan
