Description

Some may wonder why I picked this piece up as Wonder Woman doesn't feature. The obvious answer to that is of course "It's George Perez!!". But beyond that what I'm trying to do with my collection (apart from picking up great art featuring Wonder Woman) is try to hit key points in Diana's 'story'. This page shows the manufacture of her golden lasso, which I consider to be a key element. So, you see, there is method to my madness. Almost.

It's a wonderful page (and let no one tell you otherwise) with lots of the details that made Perez's version of Mt. Olympus and WW's world so memorable. Perez and all the writers and artists who took over the DC books after Crisis, while updating and changing things around quite a bit for new fans, tried to keep what was important to the characters so that the older fans wouldn't be alienated. They succeeded to different extents, but it was a fun time to be reading comics.

I stared at this page for about 2 minutes wondering why I didn't see Diana till I read the explanation. It's a nice page but I couldn't escape circular logic on it. It's a Wonder Woman page but no Wonder Woman... It's Perez, but no Wonder Woman... It's visually stunning, great to look at but still no Wonder Woman... Thanks for explaing it or else I might still be looking at it...
