Description

Here's the variant cover to Star Wars #1, launched January 2015 by Marvel Comics. It was an interesting experience to draw this cover. The first cover idea featuring Princess Leia in slave outfit was rejected right away. (All female images must be fully clothed.) The second cover idea featuring Han Solo was accepted. The word "I know" was edited out before the cover was published.

The cover was done with colored ink, ballpoint pen, copic markers, and ink wash.

"All female images must be fully clothed?" This is clearly sexist! So it's okay for Chewie, a male, to be naked? What about Han's wrists in this image?! I can clearly see his wrists and it kinda makes me feel all squishy... like one of those aquarium-jug-creatures that Jabba eats in RotJ. Next they'll take away everyone's blasters and give them walkie-talkies. *All meant in jest... Mostly. Beautiful cover by the way (not a jest). Chris

I've never been a huge Star Wars fan. This makes me want to buy the book. Nailed it!
