Description

This example of The Neighbors is quite typical of Clark's brand of both drawing and humor. He very often made women the center of the action in his work, especially those of a strong-willed nature. In this example, from 10/22/41, the wife says to her husband: "Jimmy's having trouble with that spoiled brat of a top sergeant again. It looks like I'm going to have to make another visit to the camp." The composition and drawing in this piece is just beautiful. Clark's layouts remind me of Hank Ketcham's: spare, sparse and beautifully designed.
