DescriptionCue the violins: I’ve owned a number of Colan DD pages, including another splash, several LA pages, and a number of paneled pages – all with DD in action on them. However, all of these heirlooms have gone the way of trade toward “bigger” grails.So, I’m happy to own – yet again - a page of Gentleman Gene’s work from his most noteworthy character, in my limited opinion. As a kid, I delighted in Matt Murdock’s basic goodness before he went all Frank Miller. Thanks, Sean, Mitch, and the seller who bought this page from Gene himself. And, of course, thanks to Gene the Dean for being the artist and stand-up guy he was. (And sorry for the lousy photos. I’ll try to get a better one.) Social/Sharing |

Congrats, Mark. Palmer tends to be recognized as Gene's best inker, and I agree with that, butI've often wondered how split the vote would've been if Shores had lived and worked as long as Palmer has. Great stuff!

Colan/Shores collaboration on DD produced such beautiful and expressive pages... Gene's dramatic cinematography and Syd's deft rendering was a wonderful match. Happy that this page aligned with your amazing collection, Mark!

don't like shores on kirby but i sure do like shores on colan! great splash- that is really, really nice.

This splash is so freakin beautiful! Colan so brilliant with Shores spiffy inks on an oh so serious Splash. Love Gene's DD and a splash of this caliber would hang on a wall in a gallery of One.
