DescriptionCecil Jensen (1902-1976) is most well-known for his editorial cartoon for the Chicago Daily News and his daily strip Elmo, but before Elmo came Syncopating Sue! According to Allan Holtz's reference book, Syncopating Sue began on February 9, 1929 and ran through December 31, 1932. This sweet example is from February 25, 1929, the third week of the strip. It features flapper Sue in every panel, along with her father and a guy she just met. Wonderful drawing and beautiful figure work.Social/Sharing |
