DescriptionThis is arguably Kirby's prime period on F.F. which featured the finishes of Joe Sinnott and a plethora of new story ideas and characters. Issue #46 was Black Bolt's first full app. This pg. presents the very first battle between the F.F. and a canine Inhuman. The Thing soon learns why the name "Lockjaw" is well earned.Social/Sharing |

Great page, Hans! Love all the classic Thing banter. No question in my mind that this period of Kirby's FF from the mid 40s issues over probably the next 4 years or so represent one of the most fertile and creative periods in the history of comics!

Five stars. Really one of the defining pages of that era for me, seriously. It's not just Galactus and cosmic stuff -- the way Kirby slowed the fight down enough for Ben to tangle with Lockjaw showed how he was firing on all cylinders, creating new characters with new personalities faster than anyone could contain them. That center panel should be a sculpture.

As a Thing fan and a bulldog owner, it doesn’t get any better than this!

If you were to do the definitive book on Kirbys artwork, it would have to include panel three of this page.

Truly a magnificent work of art, and a standout within this museum of a gallery! Beautiful in every single way that a piece of comic art can be. Just.....staggering.
