DescriptionHaving been a fan of Grant Morrison's writing since Doom Patrol, I've followed him to whatever book he's done. Consequently, I've come across a number of artists whose work I have since enjoyed on it's own merit. I bought a collection of the first 6 Superman stories by the Morrison & Quitely partnership, and was surprised by just HOW much I enjoyed the book. Knowing I wanted something from the series, I couldn't quite make up my mind, and finally came down to a toss-up between this and one other...so I bought 'em both. I tend to buy pages that for me show off more of the artist's talent, so I usually avoid the larger priced pages featuring the main character and usually not much else. I enjoy background work, settings, etc. That second panel alone is worth it for me with things like young Clark putting on his sweatshirt, his glasses on the counter so he doesn't knock them off, Ma Kent preparing a meal, with all the kitchen items around. The detail in the bandages, and indeed all of the clothing, is wonderful. Little things like that, instead of making this a talking-heads only panel, are things I enjoy in a good storyteller. Even with the overall page being a little sparse, I'm still very happy with it. Should have bought it BEFORE I met Morrison in NYC, but...Social/Sharing |

Great page! You can't go wrong with anything from this book. Have you seen the page where Clark is eating at the diner with Lana and Jimmy or is it someone else? That page is also quite spectacular due to the background detail.

Really beautiful page, and I enjoyed your insightful explanation of why you bought this one and the other. I have been contemplating buying a Quitely ASSman page (heh) as well, though I suspect by the time I make up my mind, all the good ones will be gone already....

Very good choice of page - the incidental details really do build to give a feel of credibly homey Superman history, and the way you appreciate each of the artists' (as in Quitely and Morrison)decisions shows that this piece has found a good custodian!

Wonderful Page! Love how they are all dressed in "Plain Clothes" and still stick out like sore thumbs. Excellent!
