Description

An incredible portrait of Bobby Kennedy created by the masterful hand of Jim Bama. I have loved the work of Jim Bama since Murray Tinkelman introduced me to his work more than thirty-five years ago, and he quickly became one of my greatest artistic heroes. Of all Bama's incredible illustration work, this painting is my absolute favorite and it is surreal to own a piece that I have admired for so long. This exquisite painting appeared on the paperback cover of Bantam's Robert Kennedy: A Memoir by Jack Newfield (1970) and was also used as the title page page for Bama's retrospective book, "James Bama: American Realist" (2006).

Perfect Bama example. The sepia tones and extremely liimited focal depth he achieved gives it a hyper real, vintage photographic quality. The skin texture, in the limited areas where it's lit, and the eyes are amazing. Great use of shadows, limited color, selected focus, and lost edges
