Description

Rage was a collectible card game from the 90s aftermath of Magic's appearance. It was a fun game where you played as werewolves, built a hunting party, and swapped back and forth between human and wereform.

Quinton Hoover stood out in both games, a gorgeous, almost ethereal style. He sold most of his original art back in the 90s, making it difficult to find much, so while the dream is to own an original Magic card, Rage was easily my second pick.

One morning while brushing my teeth and checking email I spot a daily alert from eBay with this card! Somewhat in shock(and assuming it's long since sold) I click the link and find the piece still there! Less than a minute later it was bought and paid for:)

The card is 'Scouting Mission', released in the 'Sept' set in 1995.

It was an Event card with this description:

"Choose 1 pack containing a Silent Strider. The player controlling the pack must choose 1 Silent Strider to send into the Hunting Grounds until the next Regeneration Phase. If the character returns alive, his pack gains 3 victory points. Only 1 Scouting Mission can be played per game."

The original art is fairly small too, about 6 3/4" x 5 1/4", but I think more than makes up for it's size by being simply awesome. Two gorgeous werewolves perched on a craggy outcropping, the sunlight playing off them, a grey wolf and a brown one.

A very nice piece that showcases Quinton's work.

Hoover was an extremely talented artist. This pieces rivals some of his MTG cards! BTW love the folder captions!
