Description

Jack Davis, (who is described in more detail in my description of "1962 Jack Davis Brigitte Bardot Foldee" in my Other Art-Humor and Whimsy II gallery) teamed up with Mad Magazine idea man Nick Meglin to produce "Superfan" for "Quarterback" magazine. This is the opening page of the story in Issue #22.

This is a great illustration of both Davis's rambunctious humor style and his method of drawing attractive women in a humorous situation, a broad brush approach with exaggerated curves, lots of hair and other details that might look grotesque in a lesser artist. This came out during that short moment between the time so-called "women's lib" entered the public consciousness and when it became verboten to satirize feminism in such a bold manner.

Great Jack Davis Ms. Dimeanor page from Pro Quarterback Magazine and later reprinted in the Signet "Superfan... Again" paperback. I enjoyed reading your thoughtful bio too, Robert!
