Description

Drawing this one was a labor of love for me!

Steve Ditko is probably the biggest artistic influence on my own comic work--

his era of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN with Stan Lee

is by far my favorite comic book run of all time--

and ASM issue #20, which features the first appearance and origin of THE SCORPION

is one I have read dozens of times in my life.

Ditko's classic cover artwork for ASM #20 (originally published in 1965) depicted Spider-man badly beaten and held over the head of The Scorpion-- after having been easily overpowered by his powerful new enemy, who was created as a result of J. Jonah Jameson's intense hatred for Spider-man.

For my cover reinterpretation, I chose to showcase the moment when The Scorpion makes his dramatic first appearance to Spider-man by launching himself from off the roof top of The Daily Bugle and landing on Spidey's back!
