DescriptionThe Eastern vampires (Kuei-jin) in White Wolf's "Vampire: The Masquerade" RPG differ markedly from their Western counterparts. While those claim descent from Dracula or Cain, they were once mortals who died with unfulfilled Dharma or karmic duties. Escaping from the Yomi underworld, they must steal others' chi or life force (most often by drinking blood) in order to survive and fulfill their Dharma. Kuei-jin are creatures of conflict and "Shadow War" describes the frequent battles among themselves and with Western vampires. This illustration comes from a section called "A Quick and Dirty Guide to Quick and Dirty Survival" and one piece of advice for a modern Kuei-jin was to familiarize himself with modern armaments, technology and legal system in order to survive and win.
