DescriptionBernie Wrightson's work in comics was unprecedented. He took the skills of generations of illustrators and storytellers and wove some of the best horror comic tales ever. Channeling the language of EC comics he brought life to his legendary run on Swamp Thing from 1971-1973. He would later go on to a seven year project creating 50 Frankenstein portfolio pieces which would become the unsurpassed high point of comics/illustration art. Here is a nice page featuring Swamp Thing battling Arcane in all 6 panels.Social/Sharing |

A spectacular, high content quality page. I love the perspective at which we see Swamp Thing in the first panel. Great foreshortening! Battling Arcane, his first nemesis, throughout the page is really the bees knees!

Any meager words i could cobble together would not do justice to the beauty and power of this page. Congratulations, Jeff.

Amazing display of monster antomy in action. It's one thing to have it look twisted with exaggeration, but Wrightson has them function in mini battle illustrations that touch upon the bizarre and grotesque way they function. His last issue and he bows out with some of his best in the series.

Such a great Wrightson ST example! Love the action, figures, staging, and the inking is superhuman

Bernie producing his best work on cheap old comic paper, not the blinding white stock that followed. To be reprinted forever from stats. Great to see every exsquiste detail of the original.

You make this sound like a casual post but this is simply a killer page - especially love the landscape panel!

Goodness! Every panel sings but panel 2 – brutal but also darkly funny – is a total knockout. This is a page you hoped still existed (rather than being lost or destroyed) such that even if it was “black hole-d” at least someone was getting its benefit, so thank you for sharing so we can all appreciate it.
