DescriptionNothing breaks my heart more then receiving amazing art in the mail that has been damaged because the artist didn't properly package the art. This is one of those cases it and makes me want to cry because there is nothing I can do about it. It really frustrates me when I pay for pieces and this happens to them simply because the artist doesn't take the time to include a backer board or anything to help prevent the art from getting bent. They just slide it in the bubble mailer and assume the art will arrive safely. Just a very disappointing situation where nothing can be done but mourn the piece. This was one of 3 pieces that Janet sent me for being one of the high tier patrons on Patreon. I mind it was not for a single pledge but 3 months of pledges. I reluctantly dropped out of that tier because all I was doing was wasting money if the pieces are going to keep arriving in this condition. I love Janet's work but if I am going to pay that kind of money for a piece I expect it to arrive in the same condition she mailed it in. Not a crumpled up mess. Social/Sharing |

I have been there many times myself. There are some really damaged pieces sent to me by artists. Universally, I have found the problem corrected for future mailings when the artist was informed of what happened and had suggestions on how to ship better going forward. Creative criticism and suggestions go a lot further than getting upset and taking it out on an artist who can't undo what was done. Janet's art looks great and I do hope you continue to support her work.

It's probably a good thing that I didn't send one right away since it let me cool down a little. Hard telling what I might have said if I sent it when I was still very frustrated about the situation. From what it sounds like none of her other patrons have had this happen to there work. I guess that just means that there are some really poor postal workers between California and Indiana. Anyway I told her the situation and she said she would use a backer next time. I'm still supporting her but have just reduced the pledge. In a few months I'll probably move back up to a higher tier but for now I am going to put the money towards supporting another artist.
