Description

(May 1942) (Quality Comics) Doll Man brings his own brand of subversive warfare to World War II's Pacific Theatre in this red-hot cover gag. An all-star line-up of Feature Comics' players are spotlighted along the top and left borders. Notable characters answering the roll call include Samar, Mickey Finn, Lala Palooza, and Gill Fox's own unforgettable creation, Poison Ivy. When Editor Ed Cronin left Quality Comics to jump ship to another company, Gill Fox was promoted to editor and he drew many of the covers in office for the Quality titles. The cover art was routinely drawn at a smaller size than the interior pages. Fox explained why, "We had a lot of shields and titles, so it was different than the interior pages. The covers were made smaller for speed. That made them easier to color which we did by codes." (8-3/4" x 12")
