Description

This year I got to check a big one off my bucket list getting to the Lake Como Comic art Festival. In the lead up to the show, my first and primary want was a painted piece by Ricardo Federici! I've been loving his work for a number of years now. Leading up to the show was a particularly chaotic period for me and when Ricardo announced his pre-show list I found myself locked in indecision on what to get - too many ideas. Once I finally figured it out and reached out, he had closed the list.

Fast forward to the show and Ricardo was one of my first stops as I made my way through the show and he was thankfully able to take on a show commission for me! This made my show right there, I could walk out happy. I knew having Ricardo do a take on Batman would be killer and having him lean into the gothic Batman of Mignola's creation in Gotham by Gaslight seemed perfect.

Very lovely. Nice, soft pencil tones and I love the monochromatic color scheme!

Man, the muted colors throughout work to great effect. I'm sure looks that much better on person. I gotta look into this artist myself! Congrats!

My wife and I were married in August, 1989, and we spent a lot of time in local comic shops looking for things that jumped out at us. Gotham by Gaslight was one of those gems. We both loved it. This is a great piece, evoking the feel of the original book.
