DescriptionI admit I know more about comics and art from South America, Europe and Asia than I do about the British comic industry. For many years all I was really aware of was the 2000 AD publication and all the great Brit writers that took over the American comics industry. Every year I get my eyes opened to some new artist or title like Carol Day, Dan Dare, Matt Marriott, Eve and so many others and yet there is always more to discover from the many monthly publications. For at least a decade I have been aware of a few quirky titles like Archie Robot and the Steel Claw and have been on the look out for fun pages from them. I have now found some. The two Archie pages are here and I have two Steel Claw pages arriving probably next week. Try and put this in context of all the turmoil and change happening in London in the mid to late 60's. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Mods, Belfast riots, unemployment and social change and through it all, there was Archie Robot who started in 1952 in Lion Magazine and continued for 22 years until 1974. The series was reprinted in other European countries and was particularly popular among the Dutch and French. I have yet to find any reprints of this series but I think I'd like to read a few.Social/Sharing |

I can't say that I am familiar with the work of Ted Kearon or the character Archie Robot, but the artwork here is very interesting, particularly since it was produced over half a century ago. Thanks for introducing me to something that I haven't seen before, but am now curious to see more of.

The page design is great to match up story and image for those globes right in the middle of the page! The quality is top notch and above the norm during this era.
