Description

The comics industry has had a lot of new fresh life breathed into it by the talent at Next Comic Art.
Amongst the ranks of this motley crew is JP "Gigzilla" Cuison.

His style reminds me of the the illustrations in old CARtoons magazines. Lots of visual tongue-and-cheek humor, street graffiti-esque illustrations with heavy homages to I-never-would-have-thought-to-associate-this-with-that pop-culture references.

Plus the detail! Oh man the DETAIL!

I became a fan when I picked up my first piece back at SDCC 2023 and have been working to get more whenever possible. In 2024 JP had some commission slots open and I wanted him to have a go at one of my childhood favorites; the New Warriors.

We worked through a couple of layouts and ended up here. The characterizations and presence of characters on the page is top-notch! He even managed to work in Neils the cat (from the original Ditko run on Speedball).

So very happy and proud to own. Couldn't recommend getting on his commission list or picking up an existing illustration any higher.

JP killed it! Throwback vibe but JP'ized! Cool seeing these early '90s costumes stylized, in color, and the title lettering being hand drawn is a BIG bonus. Congrats!
