Description

This is a twist on Loki's Trophy Wall from a great artist, Eric Meador. Ethan Van Sciver did a wonderful Super-Hero themed Loki piece for me that no one could top. Eric took Loki back to his Norse Roots to create this piece...and it's amazing. Pretty much every aspect of Norse Mythology is represented in gory detail.

The piece is almost 20"x20" and done entirely in pencil.

Here is the description straight from Eric: "The Tree itself is the Yggrasil tree, the world tree, to the left of the tree contains the hanging heads of Tyr, Skurge, Karnilla, Sif, Heimdall and Ulik.

In the tree or hanging in front of the tree is,. Malekith, Enchantress, Ratatosk the squirrel and Balder (pinned to the tree with arrows made from Mistletoe).

Viewer's right of the tree, Beta Ray Bill, Hermod, Fandral, Hogun, and Lorelei.

In the shadowed background to the left Loki's offspring Fenrir the Wolf. To the right his offspring of Jormungand the Midgard Serpent and Hel.

On the Forest floor is Volstagg eviscerated upon a post. Thor's hammer Mjollnir. One of Thor's Goats, Tanngnost (We still haven't found the corpse of Tanngrisni). Also the pelts of Odin's wolves are stretched to the right of the tree(Geri and Freki).

AND OF COURSE!!!!! The main guy Loki, holding Thor's chained head in his right hand and bowling ball gripped Odin in the left. Odin's Ravens, Huginn and Muninn, have their heads woven into a braid of Odin's hair."

Great work by Eric. Enjoy reading his insight and description of the piece. "Heads on a wall" is a concept that has worked over and over again, but it's cool to see an artist willing to venture beyond that. A winner.

Great new commission. Meador is an amazing talent and his skills really shine through on this newest masterpiece in what is truly one of the most unique and interesting themes on all of CAF

Hands-down one of the most ambitious and impressive commission pieces that I've ever seen! You have some truly amazing Trophy Wall pieces in your collection, but the attention to detail and clever conceptual dynamics of this one truly put it in a league of its own. I am in awe!

Astonishing. I'd almost ask if you scan this in quarters or something so we can catch more of the details in individual panels. Even like this it's breathtaking!

Man, I love everything about this piece. The rendering and composition is matched with the mythological insight. ~A joy for comics fans as well as history buffs; a sheer delight those of us who are both. Kudos, Eric!

This is a stunner.

I have a Green Lantern by Eric, and Hal Jordan has never looked more bad-ass!
