My quest for a page from each of the major Dr. Strange artists continues with this page from Strange Tales #149 by the great Bill Everett. Not much Dr. Strange on this page, but some great portraits of Kaluu as only Everett can draw them.

Bill Everett was the first artist to draw Dr. Strange after Steve Ditko wrapped up his amazing run with Strange Tales #146. In an Alter Ego interview Everett remarked, "It was a challenge because I tried to do Ditko-like work and that was next to impossible. There are very few people who can imitate Ditko. I tried to keep my drawing and Ditko's influence. And it was very difficult, but it was fun. I enjoyed doing it."

Bill Everett was doing just fine with his version of Dr. Strange and I for one was sorry to see him go. His few issues remain a highlight of the series, and especially his Umar left me panting for more!

Man! This is amazing! Bill's rendering of special effects, as in the first four magnificent panels of this expertly crafted gem, is a perfect example of why I love most everything he did. I just wish I had more of his works in my own collection
