Sometimes, a nightmare story turns into something special.
Two years ago, I sent a Carlos Pacheco pencil cover to be inked by his long-time collaborator Jesus Merino, and as some of you may remember along the way the piece got badly punched (thank you Fedex) ! Enter Annabel Kirby (from Kirby's Comic art) who got all the way to get the piece restored before sending it to Jesus, who under the circumstances got me floored by inking the restored piece for free ! That's what I call class act :)
Since then Annabel is my personal favorite hero !
That goes without saying but kudos also go to the person who restored the piece, and of course to Carlos and Jesus who prove once again here they are an art team made in heaven !

Thank goodness this was successfully restored--It's too good not to be saved! This is an amazing cover by Carlos Pacheco! I love the compostion of the page with the Black Cat standing amidst her obviously ill-gotten gains! Pacheco did a fabulous job capturing the Black Cat's utter delight in her successful theft. I love the wicked look in her eyes and the way she's running the string of pearls through her teeth, as if testing them to make sure they're authentic. And look at that pile of loot behind her--spilling out of the open safe deposit boxes! Awesome inks by Jesus Merino as well--I love the linework and the strong spot blacks that focus the eye where it needs to go. Fabulous work, great restoration!
