DescriptionLet the wild rumpus start!I have a small collection of drawings from children's books illustrators. I wanted an example of a half dozen artist or so that I have fond memories of their art from my childhood and beyond. Sendak is certainly near the top of that list. Here is a piece featuring one of the Wild Things for a toy catalogue for FAO Schwarz, the famous Manhattan toy store, in 1988. This piece has been shown and toured extensively. Social/Sharing |

Loved the art on the Wild Things -in particular the rendering and fun designs, but I have to admit my all time favorite kids book artist is Dr. Seuss. I know how hard it is to get anything from these things..so huge congrats on this one!

Sendak was a master of illustrated children's literature (that can also be loved by adults). In this illustration, his creation has an almost Muppets-like appearance, and you can see how his work influenced Jim Henson, a master of children's television shows (that can also be loved by adults).
