Description

I have owned a few later Polly Sundays but they never seemed to fill the need to own a prime era Polly by Sterrett. These dailies from the late 20's and early thirties are rare, coveted and for good reason. Polly was a landmark strip with Sterrett playing with design and content with Cubism flavor. Wikipedia cites it as among the most graphically innovative strips of the 20th century. I have always love Kitty who makes me smile as his/her body language always mimics or reflects the mood of Paw and the panels. This one is a little risque too which certainly fits with my collecting bent.

Sterrett's drawing decisions were uncannily odd and successful. The roundness of Pa, cat, & chair in panel 4. The series of frames in panel 3. The frozen posture of Ma. It fascinates the eye.
