DescriptionI must admit to being ignorant about Milt Gross until I saw this piece. I was immediately struck by how animated and creative the art was. It reminded me of Polly and Her Pals a bit in that way. Having learned a bit about Gross, it seems he got his start as a teen assisting Tad Dorgan, an early and influential editorial cartoonist that also worked in strips. In the 1930's Gross was recruited by the Hearst syndicate and worked on a number of strips including this one. I have some reading and research to do but it seems like Gross is a bit of a forgotten talent that is seeing some renewed and warranted attention.Social/Sharing |

Dave is not a fan of police brutality anymore after this. This strip provides insight into the humor and art style for humor strips back then.

Milt Gross, comic genius & graphic novel pioneer! This is a great example, congrats!
