Description

This is a super early daily from the long running Mandrake series by its most well known artist, Phil Davis. A great example with Mandrake and a magic trick. This is the earliest example I am aware of with the strip starting on June 11, 1934 with Lee Falk as artist and writer. Falk would continue to write and script for another five decades but handed over the art chores as early as 2 weeks into the strip to Davis on June 25, 1934 where he would continue until 1965! I believe Mandrake is still in syndication today. As cool as this art is, sometimes the historical weight of it is just as breathtaking.

Not only an early example, but action packed as well and most importantly, including the coolest element that can ever be included in illustration: Skeletons!
