DescriptionWith some help from friends this has been identified as a Tiffany Jones daily from the UK.The series ran in the Daily sketch from 1964 to 1971 then in the Daily Mail until 1977 after the two papers merged. It also ran in the San Francisco Journal and a few other US papers but might have been censored or edited for the US market. In total, it saw publication in over 100 papers and in 23 countries including Italy and France. The strip centers around a fashion model in London as she navigates the fashion world, romances and friendships. The strip was created by two female artists, Pat Tourret and Jenny Butterworth and has both feminist themes and erotic fanservice. The strip was popular as the themes of female sexual freedom of the era resonated with the audience. Jo was Tiffany's roommate and it is remarked that she was always drawn in a less flattering way to off set the glamour of Tiffany who always looked perfect. The comic strip inspired a 1973 sexploitation film directed by Pete Walker. The film starred Anouska Hempel as Tiffany. After the initial release, Hempel bought the rights, so it could not be distributed. There was a lot of nudity in the movie and you can see a short Youtube segment on the movie here and here. It is my understanding the actress became a very important interior designer and likely bought the movie rights to protect her later reputation and career. (part of the description cribbed from Wikipedia and professorlatinx and other sites. There is a lot of information on the strip out there!) Social/Sharing |

Well, definitely too racy for the US, anyway. Wow. Coffee, quickly !! Before my clothes start to fall off !! Uh-oh, too late. Good luck finding out more.

I love this. I believe this is a My Secret Heart daily, also known as My Story. I don't think Franch drew another newspaper strip, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

The magic book (Holtz) says My Story/Secret Hearts only ran from June to September of 1973. I got two pieces in this lot, one was a Secret Hearts and this one dated 1970 which is too racy for North America. Lambiek states that he worked on British syndicated strips via Bardon Arts agency. I'll post the Secret Hearts in a day or two.

Ah, yes, Tiffany Jones! I knew I recognized it and had examples of this strip on my hard drive, but just couldn't remember what it was called.
