I only realized after several readings just how Helen Heyer was, in many ways, very similar to V. Because of this, outside of the State itself, she was (perhaps) his most formidable opponent (though she herself probably never knew this). This page shows how she was steps ahead of most of the men in the story as she used her superior intellect and abilities to gather and manipulate information to enact her political machinations (the way V did with everyone) as well as her sexual manipulation and emasculation of the men in her life (the way V did specifically with Adam Susan and his computer fetish), to put her husband (and, thus, herself) into the leadership. I think it was V's willingness for self-sacrifice that allowed him to outmaneuver her in the end.
