Description

When Egmont Publishing recently wanted to reprint the lead story in Donald Duck #73, "Riverboat Shuffle" by Bob Gregory (story), Tony Strobl (pencils) & John Liggera (inks) in Kalle Anka Extra 1/2018, the available printing proofs were missing two panels which had been replaced with recaps because the story had been divided into three parts when it was originally published in the Anders And & c:o and Kalle Anka & c:o comic books in 1961.

As time was short before the issue was going to the printers the problem was solved by editor Joakim Gunnarsson who blew up the original panels from DD73, put them on his lightbox and re-inked them so that they would be fit for publishing. I don't think anyone can spot the difference without knowing what happened.

The panels then made their way into my collection. A very nice (and unusual) addition. Maybe there will be more restored panels in the future?
