Tales From The Crypt, che annoverava nel cast Peter Cushing e Joan Collins, ebbe un grande successo negli Stati Uniti e nel 1972 fu uno dei film che guadagn� maggiormente al botteghino. Si piazz� al secondo posto dietro solo al Padrino. La ragione di questo speciale interesse fu dovuto anche al fatto che si ispir� ai celebri fumetti horror della Ec Comics, diventati ormai dei classici. Eppure, alla sua prima proiezione, il giudizio dei giornalisti non fu affatto entusiasta.
