Description"In Freedom's Cause," page 38. EC stalwarts George Evans and Reed Crandall drew this story around 1962, but it was held and published in early 1969 as the second to last issue in the decades-long run of Classics Illustrated in the US. It was however issued in the British series in 1963. An adaptation of G.A. Henty's "In Freedom's Cause," the comic tells the story of young Archibald Forbes, who fought in Scotland's War of independence under William Wallace, better known to movie-going audiences as Braveheart. Wallace led an uprising against Edward the Longshanks, the English ruler who wished to inherit the crown of Scotland for himself.Social/Sharing |
