I've owned this golden age Jack Kirby comic strip art since the previous century with little clue as to what it actually is. I recently dropped it off with Tom Kraft for scanning, to archive at the amazing Jack Kirby Museum and Research Center (http://kirbymuseum.org/).

I confessed to decades of bewilderment about the art, and Tom was gracious enough to write me with the following clarification:

"It is an unpublished concept strip. Most likely from 1948-49.

The strip was called MONTROSE. Based on the name of the dog. It is in Theakston's Jack Kirby Treasury Vol 2, page 50. It's with other examples from 1948-49."

Thanks for all of your kind words, Drake! This is another one of those hidden gems by "Kracklin" Kirby! Love these behind the scenes pieces! Also love the hound! Great example!
