DescriptionThe history of arts is made of breakthroughs, imitations, and then new breakthroughs. A few years after the Image revolution, there came a stable of artists that developed a style of their own, almost as a reaction to the dominant style of J Lee clones that was so common in the mid-90s.One of these artists was certainly Joe Mad. He started with A Adams and Davis influences, and by the mid '90s he had developed a unique style mixing classic American comic references with distinctive manga canons. Very happy to own an example of his excellent run on X-Men. Pointy noses - check. Miller silouhette influence - check. Reversal of roles typical of the AoA storyline - check. Fan favourite but short-lived character - check. And, last but not least, great inks by Townsend - check. Mission accomplished. Social/Sharing |

Huge congrats, Carlo! Pages like this ain't easy to come by. Love seeing 'em posted here on CAF, and the AoA was a GREAT arc. Love it the page, man - so clearly Joe Mad.

Joe Mad's style was influential, but short. Blink and you'll miss it kind of opportunities to own his artwork.

Great pickup! This is a quieter character moment, but Joe was better at those than he gets credit for.

Perfect example of Joe Mad's work and a very memorable scene from AoA. Congrats on this excellent pick up.

Wow! What a great X-Men page. Not because of a cool fight, because there isn't one. Not because of a sexy babe, because that's not here either. But because of heartfelt emotion, followed by a bit of smile. Great work by Joe Mad. Beautiful pick-up!
