Description

Most fellow collectors that know me know my love for Bill Willingham's Elementals series. I collected the book since its premiere, one of the first independent series that I followed. My first convention sketch, back in the 80's, was ironically from Willingham of one of his Elemental characters. So, we go way back as they say! So, I hope that Bill and other hard core Elementals fans don't hate me for adding this great, early page to my collection. Before you start to hate me too much understand that I first discovered this page from the original owner more than 10 years ago in their collection. They had sold me a few Elementals pages back then but wanted to hold onto this one to have an example of his work. It stuck in my brain all these years, as it is a great example from issue number 2. Over the years, I reached out to the owner to politely inquire about the piece, but it took over 10 years before the timing was right to finally let it go to a new home. It just goes to show that diligence and timing in the long run can pay off in this hobby.

The other groundbreaking thing that this page shows is one of the heroes actually killing one of the villains by accident. I thought that was pretty hard core for a superhero book of the early 80's! That shook me to my core as a young teen and let me know that this wasn't your parent's superhero book of years past!

Also, a Big Thank you to my friend Mike who saved me a four-hour round-trip drive to pick up this piece for me and mail it to me! You Rock Buddy!

Beautiful half splash! The inking is real strong on this early page of the series. Elementals and Willingham made a great impression printed on that baxter paper.

Whoa! Just when I think you've decided to stop collecting Elementals art because of your Elementals page sales recently, you go and blow the roof off this place by acquiring this one! Not only is it a great quality content example, but it is as you mention, very memorable due to the accidental death of the villain! Congrats, man!
