DescriptionAfter several tries, I've been finally blessed with an Adam Hughes "con sketch" at Pittsburgh 2009. I was also fortunate enough to see Adam employ his new technique of warm and cool gray scale markers, which he introduced back in San Diego. He also added an art nouveau style to the hair and clothing. It doesn't get much better than this; at least not for $200. It's like buying a fully-loaded Mercedes for the price of a Saturn. I had to use my SLR to capture this image because my scanner was not worthy enough to see the subtle gray details. This prize definitely made the con worth every mile, penny, and smelly motel. Thank you, Adam and Allison, for this masterpiece. Social/Sharing |

Polaris in her original costume was a truly inspired subject choice as it allowed Adam to add those Mucha touches - congrats Larry!

I watched him working on this piece for some time during the show. It's not often that you get to see a masterpiece in the midst of creation. You're a very, very lucky guy, Larry! Congratulations!!! :D

Wow Larry, what a score! This is amazing! Great price too! I only get to SDCC usually. (and that seems to be primo AAA crazy $$$ pricing time:) The same thing would run a grand there, easy. So well done my friend! She's a beauty and I hope to get one someday too! I am so envious! (and I desperately need to make it to a different con sometime;)

It was fun watching Mr Hughes artwork come to life and catching up with you at another con. Congratulation again on your new addition. Cheers.

There's a nice art nouveau feel to the way her cape is twisting in the air.
