DescriptionThat’s right, I got it, and for a couple choice reasons!1) Byrne Star Trek used to be really rare. Luckily, that's no longer the case since his excellent foray into the Star Trek Universe via IDW, with great fun like New Visions, Frontier Doctor, Crew, and Assignment: Earth. 2) I had to pick this one up because of my youngest nephew, Kyle. This one's all his fault. Years back when he was like 7 or so, I brought over some DVDs of TOS for my sister’s kids to watch, as every good upbringing includes. I let Kyle decide which episode would be his first by listing off a couple choice cuts, standard bearers like Mirror, Mirror; The City On the Edge of Forever; Space Seed; The Devil In the Dark, “Dat one!” he cried when he heard the title. Clearly, he wanted a good scare, and the classic episode didn't disappoint! The gruesome crewmen deaths by an unseen terror, tense musical score, and creepy underground passageways had my nephew trying to watch thru the cracks in his fingers. Finally, the Horta was about to be revealed from the darkness, and Kyle was at a fever pitch. At the moment of truth, he flung his hands from his eyes and screamed, “Dat's not the Devil!! Dat's a... meatball...with spaghetti sauce!!” Gotta love that kid! Art from 1986 - 11x13. Social/Sharing |

Wow, I'd completely forgotten about this piece! I sold it 17 years ago and it slipped my mind until just now. That's a great story about your nephew, Joe, thanks for sharing it. I have to admit, if I hadn't already previously owned it and the same situation happened with me and my nephew, I also would've snapped this up for that reason alone!
