Another great page by an amazing duo! Congrats!
Thanks Drew - they did make a great pair - there's so much detail in these early pages.

Wonderful page, congratulations
Thanks for the comment - I first started reading the SSOC because of the artwork. I didn't get into the color series until much later.

Now that is a Conan page you want. A horde of bad guys, Conan standing his ground, then the body parts start flying. Very cool Buscema Conan page!

The Buscema/Alcala run on SSoC was surely among the best penciller/inker pairings EVER; maybe THE best one, in how it showcased 2 artists' different stengths. Buscema's strong storytelling underlaying Alcala's fine Franklin Booth-ian rendering often raised the art into the neighborhood of Classic IIlustration Art. Alcala's solo work often had the same elaborate inking, but the compositional power & fluidity wasn't there.
Congratulations on a fine acquisition!

This here is a rip-roaring action page of the highest caliber. Both artists are in top form. Buscema moves the action along perfectly, and Alcala added all the detail to the page that he was famous for and then some. Few times in this business have two artists been so different in their approach to art yet so very complimentary of each other.
