Description

Here is something fun I picked up today in person from a friend. It is a twice up cover from the Harvey reprints of Terry in the Pirates. The cover art is by Lee Elias but the interiors by Milton Caniff reprinting the dailies. I already have another cover from this series but it is smaller sized art than this one.

Fun image of Big Stoop, Connie and a little bit of Terry. The provenance of this piece is especially cool. It comes from the estate of John Romita Sr. and I am told this was framed and on his office/studio wall for the past many decades. It needs a bit of help and I'll likely recreate a few of the missing stats myself to help clean up the presentation of the cover but it is a fun piece that comes from a special place. I also bought the cover printing proof earlier today on eBay which will be reunited with this piece again when it arrives.

Wow! Use the printing plates to help make the stats? Pretty special cover if it was admired by Romita who looked at tens of thousands of pieces of art in his career, but only sought a few for himself.

What I like best is that Lee Elias did such a wonderful job in keeping withtthe Caniff style!
