Description

Here is the original art for the second of 5 (4 published) portfolio plates Toth did for the DragonLady Press for inclusion in their reprint copy of Terry and the Pirates. This is or number 4 are my favorite. 4 has such brilliant design but this one has the girls, Burma, the Dragonlady and Normandie Drake on it so it is my favorite. Simple, understated and elegant.

Toth really tried to capture the dynamics of the strip and the rivalry for Pat's affections between Burma, Dragonlady and the on looking Normandie Drake with her loathsome husband Sandhurst. Terry's appearance on this layout is purposefully incidental.

What an unbelievably stunning Toth piece, especially given that it features these legendary characters! Caniff was great, but did Burma and Dragon Lady ever look THIS stunning? Fantastic!
