DescriptionAlways wanted a second valiant- a freind had an incredible month finding several Prince valiant originals from different sources . H ed decided to let it go and thanks to a rather complex set of trades I was able to get it.These are the top 3 panels to the last page of the Andelkrag story which was a turning point in the early years of Prince Valiant- up to this point Foster had allowed a lot of fantasy into the strip- but Hitler was on the march in Europe so Hal Foster move in a different direction. Andelkrag was a beautiful kingdom under siege by the Huns. Valaint chivalrously goes to it s aid- the story is brutally realistic- the castle is under siege for months. The ultimately set for a final battle - the ladies of the court commit suicide in the burning castle - the heroes go out for battle . And everybody dies except Val who weary climbs out from among the corpses and walks through the aftermath Valiant would never again be the same and I am amazed to own a part of it. Want to know what gets 60+ year old collectors who have been at this for 45 years excited - this is it Social/Sharing |

Not an automatic Val fan and mostly when I like it, it's a cool kind of appreciation for the technical side of things. Not this time. This is magnificent, powerful and amazing. Really chilling. I love the light.

Beautiful tier. All the three panels are great, though I specially liked the middle one, with Val's figure contrast in front of the black mountain. Congratulations!

Truly stunning. This shows the depth of drama that Foster could achieve.

The term "outstanding" is unworthy to define this piece. Just perfect.

Of interest and not mentioned is it is proabbly the most powerful tier on the page- with limited wall space (my Valiant Full is in space not easily seen) I am glad to own it.
